Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, ION wetsuits are a very solid choice for surfing, especially if you’re looking for warmth, flexibility and modern materials. A big reason for this is their use of graphene lining. Graphene heats up quickly and holds that warmth longer than traditional wetsuit linings. In practice, this means you stay warmer during longer surf sessions, even in colder water. That extra heat retention can make a noticeable difference in comfort and performance. At the same time, ION wetsuits are built to move with your body, which is essential when paddling and popping up on your board. They’re designed for multiple watersports, including surfing, so you get a balance of durability, stretch and insulation. If you’re looking for a wetsuit that combines warmth with flexibility, ION is a strong and reliable option.

ION is originally from Germany. The brand was founded in 2004 and is part of the watersports-focused Boards & Moregroup.

Although ION has German roots, the brand is deeply connected to the global surf and watersports scene. Their products are designed and tested in real-world conditions by athletes around the world, which is why their wetsuits perform well across different climates and water temperatures.

This mix of German engineering and international watersports experience is a big part of what makes ION a trusted name among surfers.

ION is known for developing high-performance gear for watersports like surfing, kitesurfing and windsurfing. The brand focuses on combining technical innovation with comfort, which is why it’s widely used by both beginners and experienced riders.

One of the key things ION stands out for is its use of advanced materials such as graphene, which improves warmth and overall performance in products like wetsuits. Alongside this, ION is recognized for its strong build quality, ergonomic designs and attention to detail.

Beyond wetsuits, the brand is also known for harnesses, board bags, neoprene accessories and other essential gear. This makes ION a go-to choice for people who want reliable, durable equipment that performs well across different water conditions.
